I have asthma and am allergic to pollen. In the spring, I am doing PE, which is on the grass. I have severe allergic reactions to the grass, and have caught several colds due to my weakened immune system. Is there any way I can still participate in PE while not getting a reaction? I usually take a Benadryl before PE, but it does not help me much. I considered wearing sunglasses to protect my eyes, but how can I keep pollen from entering my nose and mouth?

Answer:
You may want to try using something a bit stronger than Benadryl. Zyrtec is now over the counter and it's a more effective antihistamine. The only thing that you can do to prevent the pollen from entering is to ear a mask when out doors. Pollen can also be carried indoors on hair and clothing. Have you tried a nasal spray with the Benadryl?

Good luck!

Answer:
i have asthma and i have a lot of problems in the spring too. it helps if i take an allergy pill before I go out. i like clairitin but i heard that zyrtec is now over the counter too. zyrtec helps with indoor and outdoor allergies. make sure you take something that says "non drowsy" on the bottle or you may be too sleepy to make it through PE! i dont think there is a way to keep pollen from entering your nose or mouth but if you take an allergy pill that will keep your symptoms from getting worse it will, in turn, keep your asthma from getting aggrivated.
