If I want to work as a vet and I am allergic to cats, do you think they will let me work as a vet? Or will they make me work with some other animal like dogs? Speaking of dogs and animals with fur, isn't it bad for people who have asthma to be around animals that have fur? Will they still let me in? I’ve really bad asthma. :[

Answer:
I really don't want to be the one to rain on your parade but you might want to reconsider your career choice. If you have bad asthma working with animals you’re allergic to can only make it a lot worse. Taking allergy meds might work for periods of time but in the long run it is not a cure, I am allergic to both my cats and all dogs. I have noticed that after being around my cats I now have mild asthma. And there are some days my allergies act up so bad I have the ability to barely function, and if I happen to rub my eyes without thinking my whole day is spent blowing my nose and watering eyes, sometimes it gets do bad it looks like someone punched me in the eye. So I would look for a career that does not put your health in jeopardy, I know you may like to work with animals but it just isn't worth it if you get ill because of it.

Answer:
take allergy meds.

I'm highly allergic to a lot of things (like my dog and 2 cats) but im on a regimen of allergy meds and i do fine with my allergens.

or get allergy shots.

Answer:
You need to go to an allergist and get started on allergy desensitization shots. After a few years of the shots, your cat allergies should be much superior.
