I'm still a teenager, and breast cancer is VERY rare… but it IS possible. I don't care if you think it's weird, but I do massage my breasts normally to apply lotion. I know what my breasts feel like and I know this lump I felt isn't normal. It appeared, I could state, almost from one day to another. I don't think it may be anything serious.. but just in case. It was in my right breast, about a centimeter off my areola(the shadow around my nipple). It's an oval/circle shape, and has the diameter of about the diameter of a penny. It's firm. Almost like solid rubber, I might add, only more rigid. It doesn't hurt or anything, and I don't have any sort of nipple discharge. But remember I just found it , it may be just starting, or it might be nothing. I know the lumps are usually found near the armpit, and in bigger breasts (i'm a 34 B) than me, but I just wanted to be absolutely sure before telling my mother or anything, and knowing if I should go to the doctor's. And if this helps : I don’t have normally lumpy breasts, my nipples are not inverted or anything, and I don’t have a family history of breast cancer.
Answer:
You’re right, breast cancer in people your age - I see from your Q&A that you're 13/14 - is extremely rare. In fact it's pretty much unheard of and if you did have it your case would be written up in medical journals worldwide because of its extreme rarity.
Yes, you massage your breasts, but at your age this can’t make you familiar with how they normally are - as breast self examination does in adults - because your breasts are still growing and developing and are undergoing hormonal changes all the time. The American Cancer Society and other cancer organisations advocate that women begin breast self-examination at the age of 20.
Most breast lumps aren't cancerous, even in women over 50 (who are 80% of those diagnosed with breast cancer.
You probably already knew that most people diagnosed with breast cancer are over 50. Did you know only 5% are under 40 and fewer than 0.1% are under 30, and that it's almost unheard of in under 2os?
A cancer professional who answers questions on here has in the past answered questions like yours with this statistic - '1.3 in every 1 million girls from 15-19 years of age were diagnosed with breast cancer from 1975-2000'. There are no figures for under 15s, which must mean there weren't any.
Another medical professional , an oncologist with 20 years experience treating women with breast cancer, states 'I would guess that your risk of being hit with lightning is greater than your risk of breast cancer before age 20'

When I was diagnosed with breast cancer I was classed as young and allocated to the breast cancer nurse whose special interest was breast cancer in younger women. I was 50.
I think you should talk to your mom about this - she will be able to reassure you.
Answer:
Tell your mom. Get it checked.
You’re way young to have breast cancer . . . but getting the tests to know for sure won't hurt you!
Answer:
Just get it checked out. Nothing bad can happen if you get it looked at and it turns out to be nothing. But if you put it off and it was cancer all along…….
Answer:
Hey, it looks like the time has come for you to learn how to change and improve your health and life. You’re young and the breast tissue problems you facing are like a gentle wake up call. You obviously have sensitive breast tissue, possible cysts and very unlikely breast cancer.
But, if you don’t begin correcting hormonal imbalances and improving your immune system, you could be making a solid ground for possible more serious health challenges once when you get older.
Instead of keeping your present obviously unhealthy habits, why don't you learn as much as possible about natural ways to improve your life, state of mind, health and immune system and by doing so you can also prevent or heal present imbalances and future possible serious diseases …
There are lots of books, studies, movies etc.. on the subject.
