more about mom with cancer, the dr did state 4-5 yrs with chemo and a pill. they cant operate at all. they were afraid it would spread more. shes got one spot in her left lung and 2 spots in her right lung with fluid in her left lung already and a spot on the back of her head. this dr wants to take more tests like an mri on her head and check her liver and the rest of her to see about more spreading but still give her chemo. i know im no dr but i lost my mother last yr with cancer and it went to hr lungs and liver and she got chemo and died a yr later. my mother in law is only 105 pounds now and im afraid the chemo will be too much for her.
Answer:
There might be treatments to help with the fluids in the lungs such as lasix but that would have to be discussed with the physician but in all honesty it is a decision for your mother-in-law to make, if she wants to continue to fight this battle or the stop and consider comfort measures. If she does decide to halt fighting ask her doctor for a consult with hospice care. Don't hesitate to ask the doctor to be blunt about her prognosis. If the treatment may be to much for her and not help at all, why put her through the suffering. She might as well consider comfort measures and be able to spend the time she has left with her family. It should be something that she and the family and her doctor speak about. I hope that whatever way you all choose that you’re well informed and remember to have faith that God is with you at this difficult time in all your lives.
Answer:
It could be too much for her. What does she want? Go with her to the physician to discuss how this could be for her.
