Answer:
There’s no treatment warranted specifically for acanthosis nigricans.

A good site with information on it is here: http://www.nlm.nih.gov/medlineplus/ency/…

The most commonly recommended means of getting rid of it is treating the underlying condition. Although it is most commonly seen in those with African descent, there are other biological associations with acanthosis nigricans.

- endocrine disorders

- diabetes - particularly insulin resistance (meds are available to enhance insulin sensitivity fortunately!)

- certain drugs/treatments - human growth hormone, oral contraceptives

- genitourinary and gastrointestinal tract cancers and lymphomas

I know this is probably not the answer you were looking for, but best and most likely only means of treating it (according to what research has found so far), is finding what is specifically causing it via visiting a medical professional for a full evaluation.

Otherwise, if something in the list provided gives you an idea of what might be causing the acanthosis nigricans (e.g. if you are diabetic and feel more improvements can be made on controlling your blood glucose levels) - you can work on those first to see if it helps. Again, best answer is with a professional :(.
