If I don't eat one I sleep all night without getting the leg cramps. I take calcium, I’m a diabetic so it's only when I eat an orange in the evening I get such severe leg cramps I have the ability to barely get out of bed to stand up & walk around the bedroom until they go away. Is there such a thing as having too much potassium in your system ?

Answer:
Check your blood sugar an hour and two hours after eating the orange. It could be raising your blood sugar too much, which makes blood flow sluggish.

It should remain under 140 (or 7.8, if you're in Canada), even after meals. Nerve damage starts at that level.

See this blog and look for the link to Blood Sugar 101. When you get there click on Research Connecting Organ Damage with Blood Sugar Level

edit: Listen to your physician, so forget what I stated about bananas. Ask him/her what fruits to eat, other than oranges. How many slices do you eat?
