High cholesterol is serious and should be taken care of, here's how

Reduce your consumption of cholesterol. This means eating foods with less LDL (Low-density lipoprotein) cholesterol. This type of cholesterol is bad for you. You can tell how much LDL cholesterol is in a food by looking at the label and looking at cholesterol. Also reduce the amount of saturated fat and trans fat from your diet. They have the same effects, but saturated and trans fat is also high in calories.

Increase your intake of HDL cholesterol. This type of cholesterol is good for you. This type of cholesterol decreases the amount of LDL cholesterol. You can tell how much HDl cholesterol is in your food by looking at how much polyunsaturated and monounsaturated fat is in the food.

Exercise more often. When you exercise, your blood pumps faster, and the HDL cholesterol in your blood carries away the LDL cholesterol from your arteries.

Stop smoking. Smoking reduces the amount of HDL cholesterol in your blood. Smoking also increases the tendencies for your blood to clot.

Natural Supplements Garlic, fish oil, plant sterols (which exist naturally in green leafy vegetables), and policosanol are natural supplements that can help lower your cholesterol, and do not have the potential side-effects carried by statins and other cholesterol reducing drugs.

Polyunsaturated and monounsaturated fats lower LDL cholesterol, so don't worry if you eat food with some fat. In fact, you should have a good amount of theses types of fat. They are in nuts, canola oil, olive oil, etc.

Answer:
Exercise, eat oatmeal, cut back on fats. Drink lots of H20.

Answer:
Healthy lifestyle means good balanced eating habits and enough activity to keep everything at balance. If your blood fats are out of balance, you need to decrease your intake of animal fat and increase your fibre intake through eating more fruit and vegetables. Eat more plant foods and avoid processed meats. Also visit www.highonlife.co.za for more info on good food.
