I've been very sick for a little over a week now. I went to the physician (for the second time since getting sick) yesterday. He finds that I’ve a sinus infection a perscribes antibiotics. Last night when I took my contacts out I realized a had a mucous-like discharge coming from my eyes, but it was late so I just went to bed. I was up all night because of th headache from my sinus infection, so when there was goop in my eye I wiped it out. This day, my eye is swollen and watery with continuing discharge. Is this pink eye or something else?

Answer:
You can get pink eye from a sinus infection. I have been a sinus sufferer all of my life. Each time I get a sinus infection, I get pink eye in one or both eyes. It is simple to do so because the sinuses are in such close proximity to the eyes. The antibiotics used to treat your sinus infection may or may not work for your eyes. Usually they do not. You’ll need a separate eye antibiotic drop to go in your eyes and despite what you may see on your bottle, most doctors will want you to treat both eyes. Reason being, is that once it is in one eye, it can easily get to the other. Call your physician and get this treated. Pink eye left untreated can cause long term eye irritation which is really uncomfortable.

Answer:
This isn't pink eye because pink eye does not have discharge but is a little purple/pink and swollen. It could be something else but highly doubt its from your sinus infection. You say you have contacts, so it could be possible it's from that or you touched your eyes with dirty fingers etc. It is usual for contact lense wearers. Go to your chemist and get some eye drops to help clear them up :)

Answer:
nope only crap in the eye can cause pink eye.
