I get these episodes of vertigo that are really bad. Sometimes there’s visual disturbance and sound and light sensitivity, but sometimes I wake up feeling like I'm on a tilt-a-whirl. I usually vomit and I have to stay absolutely immobile. These episodes last for a few hours (hopefully I can keep a pill down that knocks me out) and they are relatively infrequent occurring once or twice a year. I never have had a headache with them though. I haven't had any hearing loss and don't experience a ringing. This has gone on for a couple years and as far as I have the ability to tell has no real trigger especially since I wake up like this. So any ideas?
Answer:
Yes. There is such a thing as an occular migrane. No heache, but periods of visual distortion. They’ve the same triggers as the classic 'headache' migrane.
That being said, vertigo can be something different. Episodes are usually like you describe. Your physician may be able to prescribe a medication to help.
Unfortunately, like migranes, the cause of vertigo is often never found.
Answer:
That sounds bizzarre.
but it does not sound like a migraine headache. the key symptom to a migraine… is a headache.
