Does anyone know how wax builds up it your ears? What causes it?

Answer:
Ear wax is produced by wax glands in the external ear canal; it's main purposes are to keep water out of the ear and to keep out infection.

Ear wax is mostly made up of keratin, which is derived from dead skin.

There is no mechanism for your body to remove excess ear wax; if the ear canal isn't cleaned regularly, wax builds up and only comes out when it's dried out and become detached from the surface of ear canal.

Answer:
the tissues in the ear canal produce a secretion, dust and such in the air gets caught in those secretions and create what we call ear wax.
