I had a grand mal seizure on March 9,2009. I was taken on the ambulance to the emergency room where we found that I didn’t have a tumor (CT scan). I’m now seeing a neurologist and he ordered an EEG, which came back abnormal- I have slowing brain waves. He referred me to MINCEP in Minneapolis.
So far, I see this as normal (as well as normal can get with seizures). However, I'm having an extremely hard time remembering things now and I'm hearing this voice in my head. It's my voice, but it always seems angry and I can never concentrate on anything I was previously doing when it comes. I don't want to sound crazy or anything, because I'm not. I just don't know what's happening to me.

I don't mean to sound dismissive when I say this but I would tell your physician about all your symptoms. It can help them track down where the seizures occurring from.
I was diagnosed with epilepsy 3 years ago and when I started medication I was shocked to realize how different things felt. I no longer felt like I was a step away from my body and my thoughts were so much quieter. I had come to view those symptoms as normal. I still have an awful time with my short term memory but it is better then it was 3 years ago. My physician told me it's common to have memory and concentration problems with epilepsy.
Good luck to you and the ideal thing I could tell you is be patient with yourself. It does get superior but it takes time. They have to find the right treatment and even then your brain needs time to recover.

I had a grand mal seizure. The CT didn’t show anything, so I was released from the hospital and sent home. The next day I had another when I woke up and was brought to another hospital where they did an MRI and that's when the tumor was discovered. have u had an MRI? Good luck and God bless. Report Abuse
Answer:
You need to call your neurologist ASAP. This could be a sign that whatever is causing your neurological problems is getting much worse. This definitely needs to be evaluated. They may also need to prescribe an antipsychotic medication if you are hearing voices. I know you don't want to sound crazy, but you really REALLY need to speak to your neurologist NOW!
Answer:
Evidently the Seizure You just had- stimulated some portion of your Brain that controls Memory & Thought Processes…(thus the sluggish memories & irate “voices”). There's no telling how long these might take to Settle Down or Go Away… -And you shouldn't be surprised if they disappear suddenly on their OWN- or with the advent of your next Seizure! Regardless, -your “sanity” is NOT in doubt here, - just your Patience in figuring out HOW to deal with this… All you can really DO about this- is see what “develops”, & hope that your Neurologist comes up with a “plan” to make this situation easier to Deal with… As worried as You are about this- now, you seem to have a pretty GOOD “handle” on the Situation… -So keep THAT up, hang in there, -& good luck!
