I've read a couple of articles and the answer is still not clear to me. The articles usually state that death might occur for other reasons before the end stage of Alzheimer's is reached.
Wiki states - “The disease is the underlying cause of death in 70% of all cases.”
Answer:
Alzheimer's doesn't usually cause the death of sufferers. They normally succumb to other conditions beforehand … usually infections of one kind or another.
Having stated that, I've seen hundreds of death certificates and they do have space where physicians sometimes write such and such an infection compounded by Alzheimer's disease.

alzheimer's kills off the cells in your brain, until it eventually kills the cells that control your capability to swallow and your capability to breathe, so it's like a long slow torture.

They usually die from a broken heart after their families abandon them in 'nursing homes.'
