I was sitting in a quiet room yesterday and all of a sudden it felt as if I lost all of my hearing, all sounds were drowned out of my head and my ears started ringing pretty intensely. Should I see my physician? is this something to worry about? or am I benig a nutcase?

Answer:
Every year, millions of ordinary people with diverse lifestyles, develop a ringing in their ears. The condition is called Tinnitus.

Wax, ear infections and heavy colds can all cause tinnitus, as can exposure to loud noises (as anyone who's ever stood near the speaker stack at a rock concert will know). In these cases, the effects are usually temporary and clear up when the underlying problem is resolved.

If the condition is severe, the ideal course of action is to see a physician.

Answer:
I have a hissing sound in my ears. Occasionally they ring. I’ve been diagnosed with tinnitus and I was given hearing aids because I had a hearing loss.
When I wore my aids, it made the hissing sound worse. There is nothing anyone can do for me at this time. Inherited from my mom.
Sorry you have the problem. Hope the dox can help you.

Answer:
If it keeps happening you should see a doctor or an audiologist. It could be tinnitus. Sudden onset of ringing in the ears can be potentially serious. It is superior to get it checked if you experience it again, you don't want to mess around with your hearing!
