Before I start listing, etc, I'll admit. I'm minorly allergic to chocolate; and I haven't been eating within my limits lately [god, the councelour has this bowl of chocolate that's *always* calling me. i swear.].
I'm also allergic to pollen and dust [minorly]; pretty much seasonal allergies there.
So, the symptoms.
Increased thirst.
-and I mean INCREASED thirst.
-Before I head off to school, I’ve my daily cup of coffee [lately reduced to a quarter of a cup, since it doesn't satiate my thirst], a massive glass of milk or two, and a couple of sips of soda.
-During the duration of the school day, I'll have one bottle of a flavoured drink [usually a sugared “orange juice” flavoured drink], and then I will refill the bottle at *least* 3 times with water. Then there's the lunch pint of milk, as well as the bottle of water that goes along with that.
-Once I'm home, I'll have multiple glasses of milk, then switch to water, switch to soda [less than two cups], and then back to milk. I have around 10 glasses of liquid in a 5-6 hour period.
-Just tonight, in the last twenty minutes; I had two glasses of milk, a half a glass of Raspberry soda [before the milk], and then a huge glass of soda with a couple cubes of ice. I'm still thirsty as hell. [do they blot out hell? gotta wonder.]
Increased appetite, but not *actually* hungry;:
-I've always known my limits. But lately I've been stuffing myself overfull of food [perhaps connected to the increased thirst?]. I'll have a serving and a half, and then I'll go straight for desert. Then I'll get a snack, and an hour or two later I'll want more food.
Stuffy nose;:
-Plain and simple. Could be my allergies, but my Claritin should work for that [it's the only thing that worked in the past].
Coughing;:
-Again, maybe allergies? It's not frequent. It's usually only if I've been talking straight for more than 10 minutes. I'll cough a few times, then my throat will be sore for a while; then I'll be back to normal.
Decreased “need” for sleep;:
-I've had a strict schedule for sleep this school year. Go to bed around 8:30pm and wake up around 5:30am.
-I've lately taken to going to bed around midnight, and waking up at 6. I do *not* take sleeping pills, nor will I. Been there, done that, didn't give me a good reaction at all.
Dry mouth;:
-Most likely connected to thirst, but my mouth is constantly dry. I could have just drank an entire glass of water in 3 minutes; my mouth will still be dry.
I think that's all.
If it helps; I'm 16 years of age, a Junior in High School, and I'm currently on Spring Break [dunno how that'd help. But you never know, haha].
Thanks.
Answer:
You need to see a doctor- please.
Increased thirst can be a sign of diabetes - and you really need to control it before you get very sick, if that's what the problem is. You are at the right age for it to happen, as well.
I'm not saying that to scare you - only to tell you that it could be a sign of something quite serious, that you need to manage.
Don't eat a bunch of chocolate or sugary stuff - but do schedule an appointment with your physician next week, and in the meantime, try and eat low carbohydrate, low sugar stuff, and see if it helps- and tell your doctor about being so thirsty - it's important.
