Heart palpitations…?

Author: admin

For the past 5 years i've had heart palpitations. When I first got them it was like once each few months. The past year I’ve had them at least once a day and lately they have been occurring more than ever. I even wake up with them and they stay around for a few hours.

I can't get into the physician for a few weeks. I actually sat in the E.R. on Mother's Day hooked up to a monitor and was told I had nothing wrong with me an wasn't prescribed anything to mend this problem. He said there were many things that cause a healthy 26 year old female to have this problem. He told me to stay away from caffeine (which I had been doing since they started) and try to not be stressed, but that's hard when you're dealing with a skipping heart and not knowing what is going on in there…

It's scary to sit here with your heart fluttering for no reason whatsoever. Does anyone know what this could be? I'm getting really tired of it.

Answer:
I'm a healthy 17 year old and just this day i have had my blood taken for heart palpitations. I only noticed it yesterday but i went to the doctor to be sure of no problems. They are checking my liver function and tyroid, things like that. the thyroid is how you loose weight and gain weight. I think you should go to the physician as you mention you have been putting weight on. Maybe you have something wrong with your thyroid. good luck and god bless xx

Answer:
i have the same thing, i'm not sure the name for it. the physicians right about the caffeine and stress, and its seems a lot scarier then it is. my doctor told me its very common, the doctor told me it has something to do with the valve to the heart that opens and closes, i know that sounds scary but he told me its nothing to worry about,i've had this for over 20 years. its good your going to the doctor he can explain thing superior to you, till then try not to worry, take care!

Answer:
u may shoot another question to yahoo answers with details, like, sleep, menses regularity, digestion, constipation, urination, etc., for a good samaritan to help u out.

Answer:
Heart palpitations can be caused by:
* Exercise
* Anxiety, stress, fear
* Fever
* Caffeine, nicotine, cocaine, diet pills
* Overactive thyroid
* Anemia
* Hyperventilation
* Low levels of oxygen in your blood
* Medications such as thyroid pills, asthma drugs, beta blockers, or anti-arrhythmics. (Medications to treat an irregular heart rhythm will sometimes cause a different irregular rhythm).
* Mitral valve prolapse, a condition in which the valve that separates the left upper chamber (atrium) from the left lower chamber (ventricle) of the heart does not close properly
* Heart disease

Heart palpitations?

Author: admin

i recently have been getting heart palpitations. It happened after i returned from travelling the globe, and doing wot travellers do best-get drunk, a lot, if not every day, every second day for 7 months. now in the days following a weekend session i get palpitations. If i dont go on a bender im fine. Is this my body saying it needs a rest?

Answer:
you've answered your own question

Answer:
Dude are you kidding? Lay off the booze, and if you can't, get some help with it. Aside from whatever you may do to your heart, you are going to screw up your liver, your brain and eventually your social life and family.

Answer:
Avoid coffee, tea and alcohol some days, and your palpitations will stop.

Answer:
Heart palpitations are often a sign of stress on some level, whether physical or emotional. Getting drunk even every other day for seven months solid will take a great toll on your whole body so a rest sounds like a really good idea.

If you can't face the idea of being alcohol free for three months, then you may have a problem with alcohol in which case it's up to you if you want to address it or not - or it may just be that your mates will wonder where the real you has gone!

If you don't get the palpitations until you've been drinking then take it as a warning sign from your body that you do need to at least cut down, both on frequency and volume of alcohol consumption.

I'd also suggest a visit to your doc. He/she will be able to rule out certain pathologies and maybe suggest that you have an ECG (really simple and short procedure) to make sure it isn't anything more than a result of long-term indulgence.

Good luck! Hope you get it sorted :-)
