How long was your baby in the NICU with holes in his/her heart?

My daughter has been in the NICU since Oct. 4th, the day after she was born, and it was discovered she has 3 holes in her heart. They still haven't decided on a plan of treatment and have just been watching her and waiting to see how she is coping before doing any surgery or giving any meds. We know she’ll need surgery, but just don't know when. If your baby had similar problems, how long was he or she in the NICU before coming home? I know there's no way to tell when my baby girl will come home, but knowing other people's experiences seems to help with the waiting…

I understand your fear and anxiety,i have a 5 yr old son with large congenital heart disease,he too was born with multiple problems,he had surgery at 3 day of age,he was in the hospitol for about three weeks after that,i am starting a yahoo group it is kidswithhearts,you might come there for support if you would like,the only thing i can say is every little miracle is diffrent.and i hope she comes home to be with you soon,i know the waiting game is soo hard,but i do believe it makes you stronger.please feel free to contact me at any point that you need to.connie
