there's a knife going through it. and i don't mean that in an emotional way. like, i was searching for my remote today, and i felt like a sharp pain in my left side of my chest. i'm not sure if it was my lung or my heart, but can someone tell me what's going on ? thanks. and i eat a LOT of yogurt, and too much calcium.. can that do anything to you ?

Hi:

What makes you think that you’re consuming too much calcium? A simple blood test can tell this for sure, but it's actually really important for a girl your age to have sufficient calcium. You are still growing, and sufficient calcium intake is very important in your bone and joint development. It also helps to control weight, controls blood pressure, and can help to prevent cancer as well. Check this out - http://ods.od.nih.gov/factsheets/calcium… in regards to calcium.

To answer your question, it sounds as if it is probably a gas pain. This can begin in your stomach, and can “travel” up nerves leading to your chest and shoulders, and this could definitely worsen depending on what position you're in. It's called referral pain. It could also be chest wall pain, or a pulled muscle. It's a good idea to talk with your physician about this, as he or she knows your health history best.

This is likely not a cardiac problem, however, please remember: A family history of heart disease is only one factor to be aware of. You're at a really great age to start watching your diet (especially cholesterol and excess sodium), exercising appropriately, avoiding smoking, and learning stress-reduction techniques.

Here are some websites for you (some are for the younger set, but are educational nonetheless!)

Best of luck!

Answer:
That sounds like a normal muscle causing problems. Skeletal muscles are very good at causing short sharp pains.
At your age you can still have what is sometimes referred to as “growing pains”. Your muscles stretch out as they grow and sometimes a normal movement will cause a lot of pain if if isn't set yet to handle that particular movement.

Only worry if you’ve them on a regular semi-frequent basis or more.

Answer:
If your family doesn't have history of heart conditions or you're not old then i wouldn't worry about it unless it's frequent.
