Low red and white blood cells?

my moms red and white blood cells are low and she keeps running a low grade fever like 99.2-99.8 does any one know what cause this?

The cells may also be destroyed peripherally, i.e. in the blood after manufacture. This can be due to an auto immune disorder, such as systemic lupus erythematosus.
