Is it really necessary to get lots of bed rest? My parents wont even let me have friends over to watch a motion picture or anything because they think it will wear me out, which i find personally ridiculous. Another weird thing is that I dont go to school until later in the day so I have the ability to sleep in and get rest so I feel superior and energized by the time I leave, but when I get to school and walk up the stairs I'm totally drained! I dont know what to do! Especially since prom is on Friday and my parents might not let me go! What should I do? Should I tough it out and go to school so I have the ability to do the things I want to and not get really behind, or stay in bed the whole day?

Answer:
Maybe you could have one of your friends bring your homework assignments to you, unless they don't do that now, it's been a while since I’ve been in school, sorry. However, I do know that you need all the bed rest you can stand, or even not stand, if you don't that exhausted and drained feeling just from walking up the stairs is the mono attacking your lungs, and if you don't grant your body to fight it you could end up in the hospital with Pneumonia which is even more serious!

Answer:
When you’ve mononucleosis (mono) there is no special cure or antibiotic you can take.

The ideal treatment is rest, at least for the duration of the fatigue - usually a week or two.. even though it does not make the symptoms last for less time.

It's ideal to stay in bed until your fever has gone down to normal.

Mono is most contagious when you have a fever
