Hi. I had an upper endoscopy done 2 weeks ago and I am waiting to get the results back. I’m 13 years old and am a female. I’ve had stomach pains for over 3 months now and am currently on Prevacid. It doesn’t work as much as I would care about it to because it only stops the pain from occurring a lot. The pain is located about 1 ½ inches off MY left rib area and is in the mid ab area. The pain is sharp and like a burning pain. The endoscopy showed an erosion, producing WAY TOO MUCH acid, mild gastritis, and discolored areas. The areas are yellow and some are bright red when it should be pink. WHAT DOES THIS MEAN?WHAT DO YOU THINK THIS COULD BE? In the last month, I had blood work done and a urinalysis done and both came back negative. I also had a barium x ray which came back negative. I am just waiting for the biopsy results to come back. I had 5 biopsies done. Is that a lot? Also, when my parent called the office today, the lady said that some results came back but she can’t tell my mom until we visit the office. Does this mean that there’s possibly something wrong?
Also, the pain gets worse after eating greasy and spicy foods and never gets superior.
Any ideas what this could be? Anybody dealing with this problem too?
The physician stated that If nothing comes back from the biopsies, then I’ll have to get an ultrasound of my gallbladder.
Also, I get these gurgling noises A LOT in my stomach that are REALLY REALLY loud. I am not over exagerating. I’m assuming this is the acid.
My Grand Mother and my Aunt had to have their gallbladders removed. So could this possibly mean that I might need mine out? Could this be a gallbladder problem and could this possibly mean that gall bladder problems are heraditary(spelling?? sorry)??
PLEASE HELP! I CANT STAND THIS!! HELP! HELP! HELP!
Answer:
The erosion sound like the begin of an ulcer, Prevacid, will keep the germs down, but you need something like Nexium or Prilosec, to help heal the ulcer or erosion, which is the start of an ulcer. The lab that made the Prilosec lost it's right to make the medication exclusively, and now it can be sold over the counter. So the lab now makes nexium, a medication much like Prilosec, and charges a very high price for it. The truth is, Nexium and Prilosec are nearly identical in makeup. You can buy the Prilosec over the counter and it will help heal up the erosion, and also will begin immediately to cease the acid production in the stomach and thus stop the pain. I have the ability to take one and 45 minutes later the pain is relieved.

Gall bladder problems are sometimes hereditary. So, if it is the gall bladder, you might need to have it removed. Best of luck. I really hope that you feel better.
