Rheumatic Fever is caused by streptococcus….the most common type is strep throat.. If left untreated, they usually remain dormant or resistant to antibiotics especially if the person diagnosed with this did not continue the instructed antibiotic therapy by his or her doctor. Later on it will fall into Rheumatic Fever…. these strep usually prey on the oxygen-rich and blood rich part of your body….sad to say the most common is the valves of the heart. When my dad was little, they thought he had strep. Now he's in his late 50's and they just found out that it was a mild case of rheumatic fever. They said that in a few years he will have to have his heart valves replaced.
