Hey I’ve a question I had a panic attack last thursday morning and it is the first time it has happened to me, it had happened after I woke up and went to take a shower, after the shower I felt dizzy, I was breathing heavy like I just completed running, I nearly fainted, but I went sittin in the living room and the panic attack went away. Why did I have a panic attack?

Answer:
Normally, a panic attack is brought on by your mind reacting to physical stimuli. I would bet that the hot shower combined with some slight disorientation from having just woken up was to blame.

The heavy breathing probably didn't help either as you probably were hyperventilating (which causes a lot of physical symptoms as well for your mind to over-react to.)

You did the right thing though. Sitting calmly and reassuring yourself that it will be ok is a great way to end a panic attack.

Answer:
Panic attacks are usually brought on by stress.
