This is a question for anyone who has had hives before or any doctors or nurses out there. I have really bad hives. I saw my Dr. this morning and he gave me a cortisone shot for it, but my hives are still itching and spreading. Has anyone here had a cortisone shot for hives before? If so, how long does it take before you start feeling superior and the hives go away? Thank you for your help.
Answer:
Within a day or two.
I had hives for 4 months every evening all of sudden. I broke out between 7 to 9 pm when I started having hot flashes. I know it had to be related to hormones & my skin getting hot. Hormones are stored in the fat, so I decided to diet. The first 12 lbs dropped off and my hives went away overnight. I now have lost 20 lbs and they’ve not reappeared. Hives can last for months or years which would then be cronic. Physicians are of no help really. I would take Benedryl one hour “before” I usually broke out, and then when it was 'the time', I would get only 3 to 5 hives instead of tons of them. It helped tremendously by taking the pills at the right time, before you usually break out. Animals are a massive hive factor as is some foods. With me I could not figure it out, nothing worked until I dieted and lost weight. No more hives. Keep your skin as cool as you can. Heat is a massive factor in getting hives or making them worse. I’ve a fan by my recliner while Im watching TV and a fan by my bed to keep my skin cool.
