Is the only way to treat a fungal toenail infection is to take medication (I think there's only one on the market), I'm a bit reticent about taking it.

Answer:
Natural remedies are great to get rid of a fungal infection. I gathered all the good remedies on this page: http://www.optiderma.com/en/skin-disorde…

Here is also a good antifungal foot bath that you can try as well : http://www.optiderma.com/en/healthy-skin…
It worked for me :-)

Hope this helps

Answer:
You don’t need to take internal medication for this problem- it will actually be defeating the object as the problem isn’t systemic, and is limited to your toe only! What you should do is purchase some 100% Tee tree essential oil (available from all pharmacies) and apply 3 drops to the infected as well as surrounding toenails 3 times daily.

It should start to clear up in about a week.

I developed a bad case of this after a holiday in the Caribbean, but olive oil cured it for me, keep your feet clean, change your socks twice a day and coat the affected area with olive oil, takes several weeks, depending on how bad the affection is, also cures athletes foot.
No chemicals, no internal meds, little cost and it works.

Answer:
Yes, the only way to have it treated is internally with medications. It takes a couple of months to absolutely get rid of the fungal infection which is why you must continually take the medication as prescribed.

Answer:
You can get stuff to paint on your nails from chemists/beauty suppliers. Try looking for fungus fix nail serum
