If they rubbed a cold sore then touched you down there immediately after, or if they had herpes on their fingers (which is possible but not common) then there would be a possibility of getting herpes. Your not too prone to get any thing by fingering alone. Herpes usually likes skin to skin contact like kissing or oral sex to be passed on. It doesn't live for more then seconds away from the body.
Virgins are very susceptible to getting any std, Once you’ve sex you put your self at risk of getting stds, specially if you don't use condoms.

I'm sorry hon, but yes you can get herpes from spit and fingers. I'm supposing he told you different but if it's body fluid it carries the virus.
