I had an HIV test at a lab last week and the result they sent me was negative. The test was fourth generation. My question is, they told me that the result will be ready in two hours but it took about 9 hours for the result to be ready. I am afraid that they tested the sample first and it came back positive positive and then they retested it and got a negative and they sent me the negative one. Could this be the case? would they have told me if the sample initially tested positive??
Answer:
There are strict ways that HIV testing is done. And a negative is negative. Realistically if it was HIV they have to tell you and they’re not going to hide a positive result. Be glad it is negative, if you put yourself at risk with in the last 3 months retest.
It nearly sounds you wanted or expected it to be HIV , so please be safe. Use a condom with all your partners.
Answer:
It cannot be positive. if your first test comes positive, they would draw fresh blood for a second test. so don't worry about it.. they must have just been busy..
If you’ve very recently contracted HIV (2 weeks or less) and your body has not yet produced antibodies, the test may give a false negative result. but only if you’ve contracted the virus really recently!
Answer:
Wow, somebody has a conspiracy theory problem. Yeah, they always go around and let people roam the streets w/ HIV. Good thinking.
Answer:
If it is negative then it is negative.. regardless of how long it took them to test it.
